ThankGod Omori Jesam, born June 8, 1980, professionally known as TG Omori, is a popular Nigerian music video director, cinematographer, and fashion expert. He has directed music videos for top Nigerian superstars including Olamide, Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Kiss Daniel, Tekno, Fireboy DML, Falz, Timaya, and Naira Marley.
Early Life and Education
ThankGod Omori Jesam is a native of Nigeria’s Cross-River State. Omori was raised in a middle-class family in Agungi, Lagos State, Nigeria.
At the age of 15, he began directing plays at his church and school. Omori’s father suggested that he become a waiter because nothing at the moment was going well for him.
Omori began creating videos at the young age of 16, but only began doing it professionally after graduating from Pencil Film Institute. At the time, he was Nigeria’s youngest working filmmaker.
He always maintained that the camera is merely a tool and not its primary maker.
Career
A little more than half of the videos in the summer 2019 charts were produced in 2019 by TG Omori. MTV, Soundcity, and Trace all count down.
He created music videos for many artists, including Naira Marley’s contentious song “Am I a Yahoo boy,” Olamide & Wizkid’s “Totori,” and Naira Marley’s “Soapy,” which earned the viewers’ choice award at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival.
He was named video director of the year at the City People Entertainment Awards in 2019 and was responsible for two of the top 10 most watched Nigerian music videos.
On November 4, 2021, a video for the North African remix with ElGrande Toto was made available. It was filmed in Lagos under the direction of TG Omori, and just one month on YouTube, it had amassed over 34 million views.
However, TG Omori’s career extends beyond the background and includes runway appearances at renowned Heineken Lagos Fashion Week and appearances as a fashion model.
He is well renowned for his distinctive sense of style and never hesitates to flaunt his way of living. He has recently been seen being filmed for music videos.
